New silicone render over old render

Do you have to remove the sections of old render which are loose before you apply new silicone render?
What happens with you render over it the way it is?…

"Yes it is advised to remove all loose render before replacing with new render.
If you render over loose render it will eventually fall away as it doesn't have a secure bond to the existing brickwork"

"When applying any type of plaster to a wall the surface needs to be secure. You can only attach the plaster to the background so if the background is loose the extra weight will most like pull it completely from the wall."

"You can render straight over existing render but the render underneath must be sound enough.
You must remove anything loose before you start then apply a render grip"

"Hi there . It’s always advisable to remove old render prior to new application of any type of render . If old render is not removed , new render would fall away from the walls as it wouldn’t have any kind of good enough bond to the existing brickwork ."

"Hi
Yes you need to remove all loose existing render. You need a strong backing. If you leave lose render it will crack the new silicone.
As you are applying thin coat silicone render over traditional sand and cement, I would highly recommend removing all the existing render first"

"I would remove the old plaster so that the silicone has better support and if you just put it on top it won't hold much and it would be better to remove everything that is loose and put the new silicone render"
