Our plumber has quoted a 6 month guarantee for his workmanship- is this the norm?

"Yes. it is one of the best and unexpected Brexit benefits: now guarantee is what the seller or the service provider tells you it is.

You no longer have the 2-year guarantee written in the consumer protection law."

"If the plumber is so confident with his work he would of made it 1y warranty"

"It seems a bit odd. Usually these things are a given. Should always been guaranteed to get the same plumber back"

"Yes usually the bathroom fitter will only guarantee connections to the bathroom suite ie bath connections hot and cold/ toilet cold/ basin hot and cold/ and waste connections traps same applies for a shower/ tray thanks Vince"

"From what I can gather it all depends on each company/fitter. A 12 month guarantee would be the norm from myself"

"Any guarantee is good. For me as a plumber I will install products to manufacture standards also use the correct plumbing materials needed. If everything is working as it should with no leaks or problems but then 2 weeks down the line there’s a problem with for example the toilet button stopped flushing because it’s broken inside the cistern. I cannot guarantee something like that because once it was fitted it was working and it’s obviously a manufacturer problem. I would come back to fix this free of charge for customer satisfaction but if it was 6 months down the line I cannot guarantee that. Thanks"

"I think it's no joke when a person knows the quality of his work; because I also give a guarantee on all my work."

"The normal if you are subcontracting is 12months on workmanship."

"Typically 12 months, but can vary depending on contract. Lower would be a red flag, personally speaking."
