Networking a garden office

We've just had a home office installed in the garden but need to set up a wireless network but we're not sure whether it's possible to extend our home's wi-fi to the bottom of the garden or whether we need to install a separate network. We have a power supply but no reliable internet yet. What would you recommend?

"You can run a Cat5e/6 cable from the main router to the office and install an access point which will give you WiFi and a couple of hardwired connections."

"Need an Ethernet cable from your router in your house to the shed and have an access point in the shed connected directly to this cable. This will give you and extended Wi-Fi connection and will be a reliable connection"

"Hi there
Great question.

If you have internet in your home, it is possible to extend it in your garden office.
The best way to do this is by running an internet cable from you home router to the office and put a Wi-Fi Access Point on the end.
The internet cable should be exterior grade and the Wi-Fi access point should have a different Wi-Fi network name, and password, to the one you have in your home. This way, when you go to the office, your laptop, phone or what have you, will connect automatically when you are within range.
If you are not able to run a cable, you can pass internet between buildings ‘over-the-air’ known as ‘point to point’ so long as you have line-of-sight between both buildings.
Hope this helps

"Hi,

To have something that works well and is reliable that doesn’t drop out I would suggest you have a professional come in and either run a duct grade data cable down to the office with a switch and access point or doing it via a point to point wireless bridge.

Thanks"

"Hi, you can have an ethernet cable run from where your router is located to you your garden office, once the cable is there you can then have an access point which will give you WiFi or you can have a switch installed which will give you hardwired connections for your PC and other devices, you can also have an access point connected to the switch which will give you the best of worlds. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.

"Best solution is to run a network cable from your garden office into your router or home network."

"One option is that you could use a network over mains adaptor, namely a TP-Link AV1000, which uses the mains to carry the network with an adaptor plugged into your router and it gives you a “wired” network connection for your office."

"I really you would need to hard wire a WiFi Access point to give you the best possible WiFi service in the home office"

"Good morning. You will need to contact your internet provider. If the signal strength is good you may be able to use a wireless router and use the same network.
