mixed finish on exterior walls

The finish on the exterior walls is mixed including stippled and rendered. Will I need to re render the outside of the house before painting it?

"As long as there are no damaged areas (big holes) in the existing render, it should be fine for painting
I would recommend a stormsheild paint"

"Hi Linda that’s really down to personal choice you could either paint on top of the finish you already have or the wright way would be to hack of and start again with a more up to date choice I hope this helps kind regards Steve"

"Most modern products now come in a variate of colours so there is no need to paint over the render unless you want to choose the more traditional method of rendering with sand and cement"

"If the render and stipple finish is sound and not blown anywhere I would just paint it
It doesn’t need re rendering

"Personal preference
Some people like the finish to all be the same but you can paint it as it is"

"If you went with a modern material silicone render we use Johnstones so would make sense to paint after because you could get the same colour paint to match the render"
