LVT wear layer depths

LVT flooring brands seem to vary a lot with wear layers. What depth of wear layer would you say is suitable for a family kitchen?

"You want 0.55mm wear layer as that’s commercial grade in t glue down ( dry back ) version. The main thing is to find a decent LVT shop who know who to fit it correctly."

"I would recommend a minimum of 0.3mm wear layer.
Karndean & Amtico offer some great ranges."

"Hi
If you choose a stick down lvt go for a “wear layer”
of .55 .
The overall thickness of the product is normal between 3.5 & 4.5mm depending on range and quality .
The other option is a clic system which does not need to be adhered to the sub floor .
These tend to be the same “wear layer “ but the boards are between 5-6mm in thickness .
Hope that helps
Simon."

"The overall thickness of LVT is irrelevant when it comes to wear. You get commercially rated and domestically rated LVT.

Commercial Like Polyflor commercial, design & bevel line are guaranteed for commercial use, i.e shops like Primark etc for 10-20 years

Domestic wear Like Polyflor Camaro are guaranteed for 10-20 years in Domestic setting like your own.
All these products are between 4mm & 6mm thickness"

"most quality come with a guarantee warranty. if the material you're looking at doesn't have this it will not last for as long. just make sure you do your research on the material you're buying"

"The durability of LVT flooring is largely determined by the thickness of its wear layer. Typical thicknesses are 0.3mm, 0.5mm, and 0.7mm. While all options offer protection, we suggest considering the 0.5mm or 0.7mm wear layers for your kitchen."
