Has my plaster blown?

There are two long, bulging lines on my ceiling and it's starting to crack the paper. Does this mean the plaster has blown underneath?

Speaking to my trustworthy plasterer he’s an associate of garden guys and he believes yes the plaster has blown

If they are fairly straight and or parallel cracks, most likely the board above rather than the plaster

Generally this will mean movement..  this normally happens with old houses that have lathe plaster

Yes unfortunately it dos spending j hi ow long the plaster has been on if new plaster it means that not enough pva has been put on before 
If it’s of plaster it could be due to movement or heavy feet on floorboards

Sounds like you have had or are having a leak that is being soaked up by ceiling board and plaster. Is the ceiling below bathroom by any chance or below loft

A simple way is to give it a light tap and if it sounds hollow to rest of plaster yes its blown
