Limescale inhibitors

I would like to get some advice on limescale devices / inhibitors, whether they work and if so which are the best one/s…? We have very hard water and it is affecting the functioning of our shower.
Many thanks

"Hi , I would probably recommend having a water softener installed, but this is dependent a lot on installation requirements, failing that you could try having an electrolytic scale reducer installed on the incoming main , and then a secondary one fitted to the shower supply"

"You have two options, either a water softener shall be installed or a water conditioner. A water softener removes the limestone from the water and a water conditioner nullifies the effects of hard water which does not allow limescale to form."

"I personally & many other trade professionals think they aren’t very good. Installing a salt water filter will be much more beneficial"

"They work in hard water areas you don’t need a inhibitor for hard water it’s just inline limescske reducer you fit on the hot water inlet on the boiler"

"I think your best bet would be to install a water softener either a electric one or a standard one that would be your best bet
Bwt do a very good range of water softeners
And I depends on what type of system you have too"

"For those who want to install a water softener by themselves, are looking for a modern design and low operating costs, the Ecoperla Toro series will appeal. High-class components at a good price are the domain of the Ecoperla Vita series. Ecoperla Softcab offers three sizes to choose from. This series is a combination of solid components. For those who are looking for water softeners with additional functions, I recommend reading more about Ecoperla Slimline, while for people who need large amounts of soft water, the two-part water softeners from the Ecoperla Softower series will be perfect. If, on the other hand, you want to control the water softener using the app, Pentair IQsoft will be a good proposition."

"Hi Naomi- Really depends on your budget. Magnetic inhibitors are the cheapest and will work to an extent. Salt fed mechanical softeners are by far the best, but they ain’t cheap. Guess if you weight up what you’re saving by not having to replace water filled appliances it’s worth looking into. Harvey’s I have installed these and customers seem to like them. Hope this helps!"

"Hi,
There are a number of different limescale inhibitors in the market.
To name a few electrolytic, magnetic, electronic etc.
I still prefer the inline type like the electrolytic kind for cold water supply. This will be a cheaper option and should be replaced annually to experience the best results,
There are more expensive type of inhibitors anywhere up-to £1000. It all depends upon what one will pay. For both hot water, cold need to be covered by an inhibitor you will need a plumber to install a magna type of inhibitor on your heating system near the boiler. Plus as mentioned before an in-line inhibitor on cold water supply."
