Can I lay floorboards directly over a concrete floor?

Yep you can do it but is depend how is the levels the best things is to put laminate or carpet

Nonis the answer,  what you have to donus build  a frame for your floor boards to sit on ,like a suspended floor if that helps my dear,  if you lay floorboards over concrete  , the floor will probably  rote over time and warp .

Yes you can do it without need of underlay since the concrete floor is perfectly leveled and straight.

You can also install a solid wood floor over a concrete subfloor by floating it on an adhesive backed underlay such as Fast Fit Peel & Stick Underlay. This has adhesive on one side which the solid wood floor is laid onto. Before you lay down the underlay you will need to first lay a damp proof membrane
