Knocking through an exterior stone wall

We have just bought a beautiful Victorian villa and we are trying to restore some of the original features such as the fireplaces. There was an extension built in the 70’s and I would like to open the fireplace between the living room and extension (double sided stove) but this would mean knocking through the original exterior stone wall. Is this possible?

"Yes this is possible but will depend on several factors.

Is the building listed in any way ?

You may need building regs approval for this work as you are possibly affecting the structure of the house.

the condition of the existing chimney will also have to be looked at.

pretty much anything is possible if you have the budget. You need an experienced trades person to give you advice and a quote."
