"It is not ideal to paint over PVA there is a problem with adhesion especially if there's any damp check with the brand you are intending to use Zinzer Bin Aqua is a very good adhesions primer sealer."

"Kilz pva primer is normally used to seal in newly installed drywall. If it’s been used on any previously painted walls it’s likely to cause problems with new paint adhesion. Possibly resulting with paint flaking. If this is the case. As another decorator has suggested using a shellac based product called zinsser bin (red tin not the zinsser aqua bin) would be required to prevent any problems with lack of adhesion.
If kilz pva primer has been used correctly and only applied to freshly installed drywall the you can paint over it with a water based satin paint. Hope this helps"

"I wouldn't use a water based paint over PVA. An oil based satin would probably be better."

"Yes, you can use satin paint over Kilz PVA primer. Satin paint is a good option for walls as it provides a subtle sheen that is easy to clean and offers a smooth finish. Just make sure the Kilz PVA primer has dried completely before applying the satin paint for the best results."
