Key jamming in night latch

Question

It's hard to get the key back out of our night latch on the front door after opening. The key seems to twizzle round too far, so it needs a bit of jiggling to get it back out again. Is this fixable?

Spray some GT85 into the lock to lubricate it or change the cylinder

Judging by what you have wrote I am guessing the tail on the back of the lock has been twisted at some point in it's life. Before hiring a locksmith though. The first thing to do would be to add some graphite powder into the lock. It may be a sticky pin which the graphite will lubricate. If this does not work then the lock needs looking at professionally.

It could be a few things wrong with the rim. The tail on the rear could of twisted or the pins are stuck. Spraying gt85 will help with the pins. Maybe remove the rim and check the rear tail to see if it's twisted. Or simply replace the rim.

If this is a rim cylinder then it could be a few issues. Sounds like the last pin is grabbing the key. Over rotation of the cylinder sounds like the spindle not seated in the spindle housing. We would recommend a new night latch and rim cylinder.
