Keeping a Christmas tree alive all year

We're going to buy a real Christmas tree this year, with the hope it survives to use the following year. What can we do to make sure it stays alive in our garden?

"When you pot it try using manure in your compost and then water it, thats the best way to do it"

"Hi Luke. To keep a Christmas tree alive make sure you give it clean tap water everyday. Temperature is also important especially if the tree is kept inside. Chris Smith"

"Buy a football tree and keep in it's container moving it to a larger container as it grows. Will need pruning to maintain shape"

"The answer is to buy a potted tree , it needs its root systemto stay alive. We sell them . Just put it back outside once Christmas is over.
