Island cooker hood replacement - long chimney/duct

My island kitchen extractor fan/hood doesn't seem to be removing steam and I'm assuming I need a new one? It was already in the property when I bought it and the property is a converted chapel with the kitchen on the upper floor, so the chimney part goes up to the roof & is about 1.2m long. My question is, is it possible to change the hood without changing the chimney part? Is it a universal fit? My rough measurements show that the square is abt 29x29cm? The current one is an old baumatic 90cm unit. Thank you.

"Hi,

It will be a standard fitment. You just need to measure the diameter to ensure you purchase the correct size. Kev"

"You should be able to change the unit without the ducting the ducting could be blocked or the fan is malfunctioning it needs a visual inspection and test"

"Hi, If you do the research on the make and model on the Internet it should give you the answers, depending on how the hood is secured extra. Model number and serial number usually on the inside of the hood, so if you remove the filters you should see it."

"The model number will be stated inside above the removable filters.
You should be able to locate the model number there
It might just need new grease filters and carbon filters.
New filters can also be obtsined"

"The square section has a circular duct inside
It may be sold plastic pipe with bends or a flexible pipe
If the hood fan is turning but not extracting it may be that the duct is blocked or if flexible may be crushed or kinked

"It can be changed to Morden type with a bit of alterations to fit .
The old one can be opened and cleaned up and checked why its not extracting.
In all cases the extraction will be remedied and left in effective operation condition"

"Difficult to say without looking. It may only require an uprated extractor."

"Firstly Have you checked the filter? Secondly I would go by the manufacturers data-notes. On modern ones i think its about 125mm and there are plenty of different adapters about. Plus i would make sure the fan is suitable for vertical ducting."
