Is working from a ladder safe?

Our handyman has offered to go up a ladder and fix our gutters. If we say yes are we liable for any accidents?

"Any self employed person has to take into account for there own safety, working up ladders is a dangerous act and really if at a great height should work from a scaffold and wearing the right PPE.

If he as a accident it’s his fault as he should take into account of any dangers example a roof that is not of a solid structure and to take full precautions before attempting any job which also includes anyone around him."

"Yes, it is safe if the ladder is positioned correctly and the size of the ladder counts, if it is from 3 segments to 8 meters, a person must secure the ladder down."

"Long as u don't employ him full time, and he's self employed you will be ok.
Being self employed he should have all his own ppe and insurance. If he's employed by yourself then you will have to risk access the job he is undertaking."
