"For the cost of repair and calling out a repair man you probably would be better off buying a new or 2nd hand one."

"Definitely replace . old fridges are extremely inefficient and if it's working hard to try and get hold I can guarantee it is costing a fortune in electrical bill . Modern fridges are very efficient and will save electricity"

"My honest opinion is if it's old enough that it's discounted in the shop then it better to treat yourself and get a new one 😉"

"Afraid you need to buy a new one. It is not economically to repair."

"...how old the fridge ? what made ? size is ok for U ?
...however new fridges are more energy efficient with air circulation system
- fresh food
....real electricity savings with right fridge in right location...."

"But a new one. It will cost you at least half the value of the new one to fix it."

"Consider replacing it if:

It’s 10+ years old — fridges have a typical lifespan of 10–15 years.

It’s making strange noises, leaking, or cycling on/off a lot.

The compressor or sealed system is failing — expensive to repair.

It’s an older model and likely inefficient (can cost more in electricity over time).

It’s not cooling properly even after basic troubleshooting (e.g., defrosting, cleaning coils, checking seals).

Bonus tip:

Check the energy rating — a newer unit could save a lot on your electric bill. Also, fridges often go on sale around holiday weekends or seasonal clear outs (like now in spring).

If you want, I can help you troubleshoot it a bit to make sure it’s not an easy fix before you buy a new one."

"Better of getting a new one with a good enery rating and warranty. Not economical to repair."

"You can get them re-gassed for around 50-90 pounds usually amd if it's an older model it will be less efficient and therefore use more electricity, hope this helps!"

"probably best to buy a new one
the compressor is probably faulty and these are extremely expensive"
