"yes, you can ask for references as people are just starting out but have done a few private jobs"

"If they only just started to use the site then why not

Myself only just started on this site so also don’t have any review"

"Yes sometimes people don’t bother giving tradesmen a review, it doesn’t mean they can’t do the work"

"I would say yes as long as they can demonstrate other reputable reviews from either Facebook or other sites like CheckaTrade.
I am a decorator but I personally don’t use this site very much as I never actually get any jobs from it. Most of my work is from word of mouth, Facebook or CheckaTrade where customers actually leave reviews of my work."

"Great question 🙋‍♂️

Firstly, our company has full public liability.
Secondly the reviews we do have , are an independent overview of our integrity., by clients that who were treated with a service that was guaranteed from the off .
It is food for thought though , and your view will be taken in to consideration."

"Yes i feel like it is 100% safe as some users like myself are only just starting out on the website so no reviews will yet be on there"

"Yes of course it is as long as you feel comfortable... not all tradespeople have websites."

"I agree with the previous comments. There maybe genuine good reasons why a tradesman doesn't have reviews. Either he has just started out, or started on this website, or none of his previous clients have been asked to leave a review. The tradesman may be very good still.
I'm not one for begging for reviews as i believe people look and believe what they read "with a pinch of salt". But if customers go out of their way to leave a review, it does mean a lot to the individual tradesman."
