"In the UK, there isn’t a strict minimum depth requirement for internal water supply pipes like there is for external pipes (which should be at least 750mm deep to prevent freezing). However, internal pipework should be installed with consideration for:
• Protection from damage – Pipes should be concealed where possible or clipped securely if exposed.
• Insulation – Especially in unheated areas like lofts or garages to prevent freezing.
• Accessibility – Allowing for maintenance and repair.

For internal floors, if running pipes under concrete, they should be sleeved or insulated to allow for expansion and prevent damage. If you’re installing pipes in a specific location, I can help with best practices!"

"In the UK, there is no specific minimum depth requirement for internal water supply pipes, but they must be adequately protected to prevent damage and freezing. Key considerations include:

Within Walls & Floors: Pipes should be embedded in a protective conduit or insulation, especially in cold areas.

Above Floor Level: Pipes are typically run at least 150mm (6 inches) above the floor to prevent accidental damage.

In Floors: If buried in screed, they should be in a duct or sleeve to allow for movement and maintenance.

Hot Water Pipes: Should be insulated to prevent heat loss and comply with Part L of Building Regulations.

For external pipes, the minimum depth is 750mm to 1350mm to protect against freezing."

"600mm - 1320mm is the depth range for an external mains water supply. Internal mains water pipe doesn’t have a minimum depth but should be protected from concrete or screed if you are using copper pipe hope this helps ☺️"
