Insulating plaster v thermal liner

Which gives the best insulation result? I’m trying to insulate a staircase wall, so there is no room for thick thermal boards

"If you don’t want to use thermal boards, the next best option is to Barton the walls and use a thinner insulation and you can use 9.5mm plasterboard on top."

"Hi Jane,

Insulated liner would be cheaper, thinner and less disruptive. However, as you might already know it won't come close to the thermal properties offered by an insulted plasterboard. Given that it's a stair case your choice is limited. The liner will improve the thermal quality of the wall with next to none loss of width. Tekwarm do an insulted plasterboard that is about 1 1/2" thick - if you can afford to lose that much it's a way better option.

Hope this helps,

Patrick"

"Hi ,you can get insulated plasterboard starting from around 25mm in thickness, obviously not on par with what 80mm etc would give you but still applied correctly would give you value, price probably around £25 per 2.4×1.2 sheet.
Hope that helps"

"Ewi render an option? Instead of making the rooms smaller inside make the walls thicker on the outside this means you can get a good thick insulation on the wall"
