You are better off getting an electrician to have it connected for you to ensure it is connected correctly. Electrics should always be carried out by a qualified electrician or technician especially one that can certify works carried out.

There are cookers that come on a 13amp plug, which can be plugged into a standard outlet.  these do not need a qualified electrician.  If the Cooker is going to be hard wired into the Cooker Outlet, this should be carried out by a qualified electrician.  There is a rule that the homeowner can do what they want.  BUT it's always best to get an electrician to do the wiring and know that its done safely.  This should not be an expensive job.

Certainly, the majority of freestanding models do. Such cookers need to be hardwired into a dedicated, separate circuit that is higher rated and which has a separate on/off switch. If your kitchen has this setup and you feel confident in your abilities, you can wire the cooker into the socket yourself. Thanks
