How long for paint to fully cure?

How long would I need to wait for paint to totally cure? Would it depend on the product or/and number of layers?

"All depends on whether its emulsion or undercoat or satinwood .
Emulsion should be left for at least couple of hours before applying another coat .
If its wood work you can use a quick drying primer and then you can apply an undercoat ,leave for hour before applying another coat"
