"The average length of time it takes to recarpet a whole house is 2-3 days. This includes the time it takes to remove the old carpet, install new underlay, and lay the new carpet. However, the exact time can vary depending on a number of factors, such as the size of the house, the complexity of the job, and the number of carpet fitters working on the project.

Here is a breakdown of how long each stage of the job typically takes:

* **Removing old carpet:** 1-2 hours per room
* **Installing new underlay:** 1-2 hours per room
* **Laying new carpet:** 2-3 hours per room
* **Stairs and landing:** 4-6 hours

So, for a five-room house with stairs and landing, you can expect the job to take approximately 20-30 hours. However, if the house is very large or the job is particularly complex, it may take longer.

Here are some tips for saving time when recarpeting a house:

* **Choose a simple carpet style.** The more complex the carpet style, the longer it will take to lay.
* **Have the walls painted or wallpapered before the carpet is laid.** This will save you time moving furniture.
* **Remove all furniture from the rooms before the carpet fitters arrive.** This will give them more space to work.
* **Be prepared to move furniture out of other rooms in the house as the carpet fitters work.** This will allow them to access all areas of the house.
* **Be patient.** Recarpeting a house can be a time-consuming process. Just relax and enjoy the new carpet when it is finished!

I hope this helps!"

"depending on how many carpet layers but for a professional job using two carpet fitter it would take two days to allow underlay and for the carpet to settle for 1 day and then the second day for any adjustments."

"If the installer removes furniture and flooring and works in a team, then it's best to expect the carpet install to take 6-8 hours. After me, I suggest you set aside a full day for the carpet installation."

"For a house with five rooms, stairs, and a landing, it's typically reasonable to expect the installation to take more than one day. The exact duration can range from one to several days, depending on the size of the house and the number of carpet fitters working on the project."
