Do you have any advice as to how I can ensure my boiler is ready for the winter? Are these steps that I must hire a professional for?

"It is always worth having your boiler checked for any small problems which you can potentially stop turning into bigger and more expensive ones.

A gas safe engineer will check the components on service and make sure it's in the best condition for the rigours of winter"

"We would recommend getting your boiler serviced once a year and if this hasn't been done for a while, getting a service booked in with a qualified Gas Safe engineer."

"Hi, you can do a basic visual check yourself.
Check the pressure is within 1 & 1.5 bar combi boiler, no water dripping under the boiler or unusual noise while it is running.

Open the hot water tap and check the flow is consistent and hot. If you have not had the boiler check or serviced for a few years and it is best to get an engineer to check and service it if required.
Ensure you buy a CO alarm and have this fitted by the boiler, this is a safety feature that alerts you in case of carbon monoxide leaks.
Hope this helps."

"The best way is to get a service done which should include both visual and physical checks as well as recommended maintenance tasks though it is important to realise that all modern boilers contain electrical components and just like your light bulbs these can go without any warning."

"You will have to annually service the boiler, clean the magnetic filter and top up with an inhibitor."
