Hot zone area over hob

What is the hot zone area over a hob? And what is its significance?

"The manufacturer usually states in the installation instructions for the hob. Around 650mm for electrical hob and 700mm for gas hob. There will b a recommended clearance at the rear if the hob also around 65mm"

"Hot zone.
This is the area directly above the hob.
This is why we have recommended distances from hob to wall units.
If you place something such as a wall unit too close in the hot zone there is a significant risk of fire."

"Hi,
The zone for electric cookers is 65cm above cooker surface.
Gas cookers 74cm above cooker surface.
This is the safe area incase of any pan fires etc"
