Glass seal question

Hi - whilst sanding and treating outside window and door frames, a lot of the sealing substance dislodged from round the edges. I need this resealed. Would a joiner do this?

"Hi,
Yes joiners can but anyone handy enough can do it as long as they are skilled to leave a good finish."

"Hi, depends on what the windows are made from. If wood, a joiner or a glazier would be your best bet. If UPVC then you'll need a UPVC window doctor, thanks."

"Is this an old property? You could reseal this using exterior mastic, this is an easy way to sort this issue using a silicone gun apply the mastic to area and then use a pice of flat stick ie lollipop stick and spray with water and run the stick down the mastic to smooth out the mastic"

"Are your glass pains - single glazed? Sounds like you may be doing maintenance on a window with beading? In which case the putty does perish over time. Really you would be better off getting a glazing specialist to do this"

"Yes a joiner could do this but there could be underline issues inspection needed to check wood for rot or dampness for the windows to be resealed"

"it sounds like a timber door your looking at, you dont need a joiner any body thats handy can do it there are some considerations though ,make sure that all of the original sealant is totally removed, the area is as clean and dust free as possible and dry obviously , the correct sealant is used so its a proper external sealant for doors and frame, obviously right colour , and that its finished neatly and generally angled away from the frame so that the water runs away from the timber"
