Garage wooden doors

I've read that some garage doors are made of wood. How does this work? Isn't wood prone to rotting and vulnerable to weather damage? Or is a special type of wood used for garage doors?

"Not all garage are made of wood but if yours is, you need maintenace throughout the year just like any other exterior woodworks. This will include each time you have to paint it.....paint it with exterior high stain or exterior high gloss paint adding two top coats each application. Special attention needed at base of exterior garage door because of the weather."

"Hi. Normally garage doors are made of hard wood. So it last longer. Ao long as the garage doors are sanded or the surface is keyed correctly with sand paper. Then an under coat is applied to seal tge wood, then the paint or varnish is applied correctly then the doors should be fine for a number of years.but you do have to make sure that any end grain us treated well as this will sock in most of tge water if not treated correctly."

"Hi luke as with any wooden product make sure whether its hard wood which lasts longer than most softwoods as long as you follow recommended manurfacturers recommendations they should last a considerable time as long as regular maintenance has been adhered to obviously different weather conditions and some tree leaves and areas can also affect the timber longevity"

"HI! Wood doors aren't susceptible to denting. They also boast exceptional natural strength and are generally made with sturdy hardboard panels and hemlock frames that bolster their strength. Scuffs and scratches aren't as noticeable owing to the natural grain and wood patterns. To maintain their beauty, wood doors require yearly maintenance, including sanding and painting. Without routine maintenance, wood doors can absorb moisture and potentially rot. Another disadvantage is that wood garage doors are typically more expensive than other garage door materials. Lifespan. Though multiple factors will determine the actual lifespan of a garage door, usually, a garage door will last between 15-30 years. Depending on where the garage is installed, it may get exposed to floods, storms, adverse weather conditions, and environmental factors.
Hopefully we're answered honestly to you query!"
