Fitting mixer taps

I want to swap my kitchen sink's hot and cold taps for a mixer tap. Can one be fitted to my existing sink or do I need a new one?

"Yes quite easily if the sink has been correctly fitted.
A mixer tap will have a Hot and cold feed situated at the base. You will need tap flexi pipes (Make sure you get the correct size and length.
When connecting to the feed. Use pTFE tape and ensure tight fitting."

"A mixer tap has one hole in the sink. If the larger mixer tap fits in one of the tap holes you may have to 'plug' it to make it more aesthetically pleasing!"

"Hi yes if it’s a mixer tap that has both cold and a hot feed, I take it that you have two holes in your sink for hot and cold, a mono block tap only uses one hole , hope that helps"

"Hi Jenny!
No you do not need a new sink, you just need to measure the distance between the two taps, and you can buy a mixer tap in any plumbers merchant, or builders shop.
I hope this help!
Kind regards Andras"

"Hello there.
In my opinion you can attach a mixer tap to an existing sink. But it requires clarifying a few issues and reworking the mixer tap supply system. If you accept the cover for old tap hole and manage to choose the right mixer tap for the hole, it will be possible. In some sinks, e.g. made of metal, you can enlarge the hole for the mixer tap.
The installer should see this and match the appropriate elements. This is generally possible, but not always possible."

"Yes,that wouldn't be a problem. What you need is a " Deck Mixer " short on choice of tap but unless you change the sink for one with a single tap hole it's the only choice."
