Filling Loop letting by

Hi All.
I have a glowworm flexicom cx24 boiler and the filling loop is letting by slowly, I have check by unscrewing the loop slightly and confirmed it.
How do I remediate this without changing the valves completely? Is there a cap I can put on the valve after I remove the filling loop?
The lock off for the filling loop in on the valve itself.
Both valves are in the locked off position.
Any help would be great, thanks.

"Yes there will be a compression caps to screw on for the time being until you replace the filling loop. Screwfit and toolstation have these. I believe Wickes / bnq do too, hope that helps."

"Hi, you could put cap end fittings on the pipework to stop it letting by but the best thing to do would be to simply replace the faulty fitting as it can cause bigger issues down the line if it keeps passing without you noticing, your expansion vessel would need replacing, Amwell as the inconvenience of having to take the caps on and off every time you fill the system. Hope this helps"

"You can buy caps to put in place after removing filling loop but ideally replace the whole filling loop and valves"

"If the filling loop is slowly letting by, there might be a couple of options to address the issue without necessarily changing the valves completely:

1. **Valve Seating:** The valves may not be seating properly even in the locked-off position. Try turning the valves fully closed and then opening them again to see if this helps. Sometimes, reseating the valves can resolve minor leaks.

2. **Valve Maintenance:** You can try cleaning the valves or the sealing surfaces. Debris or scale buildup could prevent the valves from closing completely, leading to the slow leak. Use a suitable cleaning solution or contact a professional to perform this task.

3. **Replacement Cap or Blanking Plug:** Some filling loops have a cap or blanking plug that can be used to seal off the valve. However, not all valves are designed to be capped. Check the manufacturer's instructions or consult a professional to see if there's a cap or blanking plug available for your specific valve model.

4. **Seek Professional Assistance:** If the leak persists despite attempting these steps, it might be best to contact a qualified heating engineer or plumber. They can assess the valves, provide guidance on potential fixes, or recommend if valve replacement is necessary to resolve the issue permanently.

Remember, working with boiler valves and plumbing components can impact the functioning of the heating system, so it's essential to proceed carefully or seek professional help if needed to avoid further issues or safety hazards."

"It's important to note that working on a boiler involves potential safety hazards, and it's recommended to consult with a Gas Safe registered engineer to address any issues. That being said, if you're experiencing a slow leak through the filling loop of your Glow-worm Flexicom CX24 boiler, there are a few steps you can take to address the problem:

1. Check for Debris:
Ensure that there is no debris or dirt causing the leak. Sometimes, particles can get stuck in the valve, preventing it from closing completely. Clean the valve and surrounding areas to remove any potential obstructions.
2. Consider a Cap ( normally 1/2” cap ).
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you might consider using a temporary cap to seal off the filling loop. However, this is not a permanent solution, and it's crucial to address the root cause of the leak. You can find caps specifically designed for temporary use in plumbing or heating supply stores.
3. Professional Assistance:
If you're not comfortable or unable to resolve the issue on your own, it's strongly recommended to seek a Gas Safe registered engineer or plumber to assist. A qualified heating engineer can assess the situation, identify the cause of the leak, and perform the necessary repairs.
Remember, safety should be the top priority when dealing with any boiler-related issues. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with any aspect of the procedure, it's best to consult a professional technician to ensure the problem is resolved safely and effectively."

"Yes, I would advise you go to a plumbing supplier rather than a diy shop. They will advise you on the correct size and thread. But be aware a lot of filling loops have the valve built in so in some you can't just remove it with with turning off the supply and draining. Also you may be surprised a new loop doesn't cost that much."
