Exterior insulation over rendered walls

Do you need to remove render before installing exterior insulation boards? Or can they be fixed over the top?

I have known insulation render systems to be applied over existing render works but I would strongly advise existing render works to be removed as old sand cement render a not breathable system witch could cause condensation damp to occur within the property.

As long as your getting a good fixing behind the plaster & it’s not uneven it will be fine.

I think its better to remove render to check for damp and damage be installing boards but the job would need to be look at for proper check as if is good the boards can be fixed  depending on the right surface

yes it can as long as you put inch  x half inch batons  on wall
