engineered wood flooring

Hello, if you are paying for installation of an engineered wood floor is it reasonable to expect the floor to be levelled first as part of the service? What kind of variation in level is deemed acceptable? Thank you

"This is a discussion you should have with your contractor before works starts , leveling a floor is a complete different job to installing the floor.
If the floor is of proportionate different levels I would level the floor before installation of flooring as it will fail .happy to help Adam"

"Yes, it's reasonable to expect the floor to be leveled before installing engineered wood flooring:
A mechanical or chemical key (primer) can be used to achieve good adhesion between the leveling compound and the subfloor.
Even though engineered wood floors are more stable than solid wood floors, they can still move slightly. It's recommended to let the engineered wood floor settle into its new environment for a minimum of two days before installing it."

"If your floor was very uneven the floor layer should have brought it to your attention. If however it was not obvious or very slight then it's unfortunate it wasn't noticed earlier."

"Hi the floor needs to be fairly flat if you’re going on to a concrete floor it might need self levelling. And some times if it’s a wooden floor you might need to put plywood boards down first. I hope this helps. Cheers Paul."

"All depends as some wood floor layers don’t screed and also it should either be discussed on survey visit or when you receive the quote to see what it covers"

"The floor needs to be level or at least constant. If a solid ground floor I would suggest using a self leveling compound or screed to take low points out. If on a wood floor overboarding could be used to similar affect."

"With all the products to be laid on any floor the level of the floor itself must be within the tolerance of the product that is being installed. So floor should be inspected for level and then discussed depending on what type of floor the engineered wood flooring is being installed on, ie concrete or a timber floor."
