Yes, the magnetic filter will need cleaning during servicing as it is designed to collect metal particles caused by any rusting in the heating system. The magnetic filter helps to protect boiler,  system components  as well as minimising blockages. It is also good practice to add a bit of inhibitor after cleaning.
