Do I need a pump for a rainfall shower?

I want a rainfall shower in my bathroom but my water system is gravity fed. Does that mean I need a pump?

"Ideally yes as gravity fed systems are not ideal for this type of shower and you will want some pressure for this to work, also if your cold is on mains pressure then it will be extremely difficult to have a nice warm shower"

"Yes I would recommend it for better water pressure"

"Depends on how high up 1 bar one meter 2 bars two meter ect ect."

"No you will not need a pump. If you install a pump on the cold only can cause problems when it comes to the hot water mixing with the cold."

"Not necessarily, depends on your mains water pressure"

"With a gravity fed system, your pressure and flow is likely to be poor, so installing a pump would allow you to install the shower."

"Hi there,

With the system being gravity fed, you are more than likely correct in assuming it would need a pump. Unless the tank would/could be around 3-4 metres above the shower head, resulting in 3-4 bar for pressure for the shower
(1m=1Bar, Cold mains is usually around 3bar)

Best of luck

"It would depend on how high your attic tank is. If you have poor pressure then I would advise a pump install. You also need a bit for the cylinder, it's called a spreader tee.

"Hi. To be honest it would work a lot better with a pump, but it really depends on your overall pressure you currently have"

"Yes a pump will be needed to get the best from the shower."

"your tank would need to be 10 meters above shower head to obtain a 1 bar pressure, so if it is not you will need a pump."

"This would depend on your water pressure but generally speaking no you shouldn’t need one."
