Cracked Ceiling

I’m having my living room plastered, I’ve noticed some massive cracks on the newly plastered ceiling, the person doing it has advised he will be putting some tape on the cracks and replastering the cracks. I’m very worried as this crack is very big and from research the tape should have been put on before the plastering took place. Should I be worried?

"Yes tape should of been put in place before work commenced and if it is a very big crack is it a lathe and plastered ceiling if so would advise you to take down and put new one in place"

"Hi,was the ceiling new plasterboard or was he skimming over existing plaster?"

"If the tape was not put on in the first place it will crack. So applying scrim tape and replastering will resolve the issue. Are the cracks in a straight line if so then this will be the reason for the cracks"

"They probably put tape on before plastering but I've done a few after someone elses and it was the joists underneath that was not right so have to take it down to find problem"

"This should of been scrimm taped before plastering the only way over it now without re skimming it would be filler"
