Could I rent out a basement bedroom?

I have a basement that I don’t really use. If I were to convert it to a bedroom and rent it out, would it be a good idea or would renters be turned off by the fact it’s a basement, even if done up well?

"Couldn't see it putting people of but also you must be carefull with basements as there can be alot to do to it before it would be suitable to rent out and certain things like tanking are quite expensive"

"Hi,
There are many people looking for a good price accommodation regardless of the position. You will not rent it out at the same price as for a room overlooking Buckingham palace, however, adding another habitable room to your house will increase the overall price of your property. Always a good idea."
