Cost to turn over and lay turf

I have a very small front garden. I would like it sorted out as in a fairly bad shape so I guess dug and turned over, with new turf . I was just quoted £560.00. Seems a lot ?

"I personally don’t think that’s a bad price
You have one man’s labour for the day and materials
He may have a labourer to help
Rubbish away
Admin for the job

Seems a fair price"

"I think that’s a very competitive quote you’ve got to take in consideration to dig turn and lay new turf your looking at at least £40-£50pm2 at least plus other factors ease of access base prep etc
I think they with labour its very well priced but to assure yourselves obtain a few quotes and compare them"

"Putting in turf is expensive. I recommend buying a packet of grass seeds. Slightly till soil and water for best results. Put out plenty as some will be eaten by birds, and some might not germinate. Many people have nice lawns and never laid turf, grass can just grow. If your garden doesn't have the right conditions for grass the turf won't last anyway. If it's in bad shape might just need strimming and cutting away weeds. I think turf is a waste of money. If its a small garden should be easier to maintain."

"It all depends on the meterage and the state of the ground but seems fair if all the materials are provided etc"

"Hi, I would say this is about right as it would take 2 men a day to complete with wages coming to at least £300 then add cost of turf they are probably walking away with £100 profit which would cover overheads."

"When you say small how small we talking? Depending on area your living in costs varies for material,

Re-turfing as lots of prep work involved to ensure the ground is good and the turf takes."
