Cost of replacing lath ceiling and basic cornice

Hi, I have a lathe and plaster ceiling that has been wallpapered and painted over, the paper is peeling and it looks awful. I don’t know if it’s even worth attempting to get the paper off or if the ceiling will need to come down regardless.
Roughly how much would you charge to remove it and replace?
It is 3.5m X 5m and 2.5 m high.

"Good evening Lesley

Firstly the obvious answer would be to over board with new plaster board , and then scim a smooth coat of multi finish plaster , alas without actually seeing the ceiling in its surroundings I would give you a ghestimate to remove larves and board and then scim , as adding more weight without viewing may be the wrong call ..

Quote (1) . To remove larves and board directly on to joists . Then scim . £680

Quote (2) .To over board and scim £480 ."

"Hi,
Firstly thank you for providing this much information, it’s a rarity.
I would advise that removing an old ceiling will create mess.
The room would certainly need to be closed off, and provisions in place to transport the bags containing the old ceiling.
I would want to look at what lighting arrangement is possible and Requirements for FD. If you’re going to take a ceiling down, it’s worth looking at how to improve the quality of space that can used.
To carry out this work My team and I would need 8 working days to complete the work, over a duration of 2 weeks to allow for sufficient drying times of the plastering. We can carry out the work for you @ £2,800 exc materials. This would have to be discussed further
Hope this helps

Kind regards
Adam"

"Hi .
Your best option is to leave paper on and over board the ceiling with new plaster boards and then plaster .
I would locate the joists.
Over board screwing them into the joists (existing wooden beams) and then plaster .

I could do this for £600.

This method would save costs on getting rid of your existing ceiling
Quicker and much stronger tidy professional finish .
Feel free to contact me if anymore questions
