Cost of fencing vs. estimate?

Should the final cost of a fence installation be very close to the estimate? How much might it realistically be off by?

"Generally speaking, there are not that many elements to a fence.

You have the posts, the fence panels, the posts caps, gravel boards, few trims may be needed as well.

An experienced person should be able to talk to you and understand your requirements such as: type/size/quality of the fence panels, type/size/quality of the posts. Once that’s understood, should be fairly straight forward to agree on time-frame/labour hours, in order to get a pretty accurate quote/estimate.

That said, there could always be unexpected tho ha such as, getting access for the posts, making sure there aren’t underground services where posts are gonna seat, etc."

"As long as the contractor has seen the site then the quote should be the same as the invoice. If there are any unforeseen obstacles like a large tree root etc these can be generally be easily byoasssd by making a shorter run at that spot which should be taken on the chin by the contractor for the extra time and some allowance for this should be included in the price generally.
Usually this would be pointed out at the time it’s discovered and discussed with the client so the way around it is agreed.
If this about a situation that has happened were any reasons given as t the extra cost?"

"There really shouldn’t be much difference at all. Only real exception would be if you come across a lot of buried concrete whilst holing out."
