Change from Electric to Mixer Shower

We have a standalone electric shower that has stopped working. We believe this is due to the electrics or the coil as there is no water coming out from the wall mounted box.

We ideally would like to change the electric shower to a traditional mixer shower, but we would like to know whether we need a plumber or an electrician or both to complete this job?

Or is it simpler just to change to a new electric shower and have an engineer come out and replace it?

"Hi Sarah. For a mixer shower you will need to run two 15mm pipes from your hot press if you have one or from your hot water system and cold water feed. So it comes down to logistics of doing that and the disruption. I would recommend that if you can do it. Electric shower should be a straightforward swap if you want to stay that way. A decent plumber or handyman should be able to deal with either."

"For an electric shower always go for an electrician although it’s probably like for like a plumber could do it but will not be able to provide a part P cert
for a shower bar a plumber but it will be a lot more costly but I believe better showers"

"Obviously it is simpler to change the electric shower. Most plumbers can do this and can advise on the cost of replacing it. They should also be able to advise on the cost of putting in a mixer shower if you prefer. A mixer shower will work ok if you have a combi boiler. If you have a hot water cylinder you will need a pump to provide enough pressure to the mixer shower."

"Hi. You would need a plumber to do the plumbing part and an electrician to make the electrical side safe. Best to get the electrician in first to remove the cables in the wall or at least remove them from the shower switched spur/pull cord to make them safe. I hope that helps"

"Electric shower neurally just need one mains feed pipe so changing to mixer would need some extra pipework involving adding a hot supply - consideration will be needed to make the cold supply tank fed also. - personally if happy with electric Shiwer just opt for another electric one - cost and disturbances will favour you"
