We are purchasing a 1960's property which is fitted with timber-framed aluminium double glazing panels - most of which are blown and need replacing. Our surveyor has advised that there are no lintels above the current windows - with the concrete headers supported directly by the current window frames. Do we need to add new lintels to all of the window openings if we replace them with UPVC windows and what would the approximate cost of adding the lintels be?
Hi, I have a 20+ year old 3m x 3m conservatory with the mock victorian plastic roof (it has a small leak), the timber is slowly deteriorating, but I can't afford to replace it. Can a joiner replace the beading and what would be a rough ball park figure to modernise it a little. My max budget would be about £3k
Hi, I’m wondering, are there any rules/regulations against having tinted windows installed on a property?
What are the best windows for a) opening quickly in a fire and b) being as secure as possible from intruders breaking in? I’d like to find the best windows that meet these two criteria.
Is there any advantage to getting coloured uPVC windows rather than just painting them?
What types of flooring suit a conservatory best?
Are lean-to conservatories prone to leaking?
My partner and I would like to have double glazed windows fitted to our home. We are looking to replace 8 windows in total. We are based in the northeast of England. How much can we expect to pay for this job in total? What will the cost of the windows and the labour costs end up each? How about the cost to have the old windows removed?
I need to know if I can have new windows installed in a leasehold flat. If I’m willing to pay myself then does it matter?
My house has two separate front doors, several metres apart. Can I add a small separate porch to each of them without planning permission? Or does the exception apply to just one door?
