Hi all, I’ve noticed that my overflow pipe has started dripping near enough constantly. It is fitted just beneath the roof tiles and has been doing this for a few days now. Are there any usual causes for an overflow pipe to be dripping? and if so, is it something I can fix myself? If this is a simple tweak I would much rather fix it myself rather than hire a plumber.
For the past week, I’ve had a small drip leaking from the u-bend pipe underneath my kitchen sink. It seems to be from the joins of the pipe sections. So far, I’ve had to put bowls underneath to collect the drips, but I can’t leave it like this for too long. Is there anything I could do that might fix this drip in the meantime? I could probably take it apart, but haven’t just in case I can’t put it back together. Alternatively, should I just hire a local plumber to take a look?
Hi All, I am looking to install a new garden tap at home. Some have told me that I would need a “double-check valve” fitted for the water supply, to prevent freezing the valve in cold weather. Is this an absolute requirement? Would this mean that I would have the valve inside the house and then use a garden tap that does not contain this valve inside it? Are there any problems in using a tap with a check valve built-in, instead? IE – could it still cause freezing during cold weather? Any advice would be appreciated!
The bleed valve on my radiator is stuck. I've tried loosening it up with WD40 but nothing seems to be working. Can I buy a replacement bleed valve? What else could I try to get it open? Thank you
Hi All, Can anybody tell me, how many turns of PTFE tape is required on radiator joints? I have been told that it should be 10 to 12 turns, but I usually use 3 to 5 turns of PTFE on CH joints which hasn’t been much of a problem to me so far. (Apart from an occasional leak on the first test anyway!) Thanks, Harry
I want to get a new washing machine but the pipes don’t reach. I have been using extension hoses for water and discharge water but I have been told that this is not good. Can the hoses be changed for longer ones? Is this a job for a plumber?
There is water leaking out my toilet. It seems to be dripping out shortly after being flushed. How can I find out what exactly the issue is? And what can I do to fix it? Will I need to hire a plumber or is this the sort of work that can be done DIY?
Shower has drip coming from bottom of shower unit. What could this be
My toilet continues to flush or fill after the initial flush has finished. It is driving me crazy, not to mention wasting water! Can anyone tell me how to fix constant water running from the toilet?
I've recently bought my first house & the electric shower has started to smell like burning. I've turned it off & won't be using it. I've never had an electric shower before, would it be a costly job to replace the electric shower with a mixer shower? If it matters the shower is at the opposite end to the bath taps. If I was to replace the electric shower, it's a Triton 3+ 9.5 watt. The new ones I've seen in my budget are 4.5 watt, would this have a, lot less pressure than my current one? I'm on a budget & have no idea about these things so which option would be cheaper to install & also cheaper to run long term? Thank you
