I have several Artex ceilings in my house and I'd like to freshen things up. I've read that plastering over Artex is one way to 'get rid of it'. I'd like to know if this is a long-term solution or will I need to replace the Artex ceilings eventually?
We have recently moved into a new property and found that some ceilings have Artex in them. We are planning on replastering these ceilings, but we want to be sure of any risk of asbestos first. We do not know if they have asbestos in them currently. If there is any asbestos we would want to get rid of it as soon as possible and be rid of it. If there are difficulties with removing it, we would like to be able to manage it safely otherwise. Is there anyway we can find this out ourselves without any danger of asbestos around?
If i fit a steel in above my window how do i go about rendering it so it matches the house? What can i use for the render to stick to? Thank you
Been advised dashing is good so it can be dashed over, is this safe?
My garden wall can't seem to hold paint and bits of render keep cracking and falling off. I assume it's a damp issue. Is there anything i can do?
What is the current price for 2 coats skimming per square meter?
Recently we have had one of our bedrooms re-plastered by a professional plasterer and decorator, but I’ve begun to notice that some of the areas are looking quite poorly done and not coated particularly thickly. Evident around plug sockets, switches and other fixtures in particular. It appears to be one layer of plaster that has been used. Is this normal for plasterwork nowadays? I recall that in previous years, plasterers would use two layers, but perhaps things have changed. I would like to know for sure, so that I know whether I will need to contact the plaster regarding their work. I would appreciate any information about this.
I have just had a kitchen ceiling plastered and sections have fallen down what is the best way to repair the ceiling?
I had house renovated in July including New plastering. After two months I notice now hairline cracks appearing in several places. I asked the builder to come and look at it . He is asking to pay him for mending the cracks. Am I required to pay for this, as this is due to his initial plastering? Do you normally get hairline cracks after plastering? Pease could you give advice on this.
Looking to have an Artex ceiling in a room that is 9m squared either removed or work done to remove the textured effect. I am unaware if it contains asbestos at this stage. Is it possible to plaster over Artex ceiling to achieve a smooth finish or must it be removed?
