What's considered better for improving a home's efficiency rating, thermal render or external wall insulation that's rendered over?
I had hall and landing artex skimmed October/November had the ceilings painted the plaster came away leaving the artex. It's now been skimmed again thus time over blue grit. I've now have two horizontal hairline cracks one going down into the wall about 12 inches either side. I felt at the ceiling it doesn't feel loose in anyway. Is this normal shrinkage any advice would be appreciated.
Can anyone explain the thickness I should go for and why? This is for an external wall
How much would it usually cost to have a ceiling rose installed?
Is algae growing on render a problem? Can it damage the render? And if I wash it off, how do I stop it coming back?
Had the walls skimmed and I’ve never painted new plaster before. Do I need a special kind of paint or can I just use normal emulsion?
Cracks have appeared in our plaster after the heatwave, is this due to the heat or just a coincidence?
Ive recently had a plasterer in to skim my media wall. Had to get him back as there were a few holes etc and he came back and sorted. Everything looked alright but when it came to painting I realised that all the edges inside the alcoves are essentially squiggly and you can visibly see high spots as well. Is this an easy fix?
If a coving delivery was left out in the rain before I took in, would it be ruined?
Do most coving providers have a showroom? I'd ideally like to be able to check out different coving designs and styles in person before making a decision?
