Hi, my new build has skimmed plaster walls and white paint on but there are loads of imperfections, dents, trowel mark's on them. How can I smooth them out.
I had the ceiling in our living room artexed about thirty years ago. Recently a hairline crack has appeared near the coving running the full length of it. What has caused the crack, is it dangerous and how do I repair it ?
I have a tyrolean rendered house and it's looking dated and has some signs of cracks and falling off near windows. Overall it's sound and not hollow behind. What are my options with it? Can I patch the fallen render around the windows and apply tyrolean and paint the whole house? What are my options with the small cracks. I'd rather not have it all removed and re-done if possible. Any advice on which render to use etc would be appreciated. Thanks
Recently we have had one of our bedrooms re-plastered by a professional plasterer and decorator, but I’ve begun to notice that some of the areas are looking quite poorly done and not coated particularly thickly. Evident around plug sockets, switches and other fixtures in particular. It appears to be one layer of plaster that has been used. Is this normal for plasterwork nowadays? I recall that in previous years, plasterers would use two layers, but perhaps things have changed. I would like to know for sure, so that I know whether I will need to contact the plaster regarding their work. I would appreciate any information about this.
small crack appeared across the ceiling four years after re skimmed do i need to have whole ceiling re skimmed again?. Thanks for any help
I have several Artex ceilings in my house and I'd like to freshen things up. I've read that plastering over Artex is one way to 'get rid of it'. I'd like to know if this is a long-term solution or will I need to replace the Artex ceilings eventually?
Hi Could anyone give me an idea of cost to take down an old lath and plaster ceiling in a 12 foot x 11 foot room, then to plasterboard and plaster? We have been told £1100 which I feel is high, but but wanted to check. two men, two days apparently. Many thanks
I think my wall might be dot and dab plastered but how would I know for sure? If it is dot and dab, how do I attach anything to it?
I live in a new build block completed 10 months ago. Recently I've noticed the plaster ceilling has buldges, long hair line cracks, sign of shrinkage (can see the suspended ceilling metal beams coming through, and most of all several areas in the ceilling are soft to touch, ie I can dent the plaster with my finger. There is no water leakage to be seen. Any ideas as to the possible causes and best way of remedial works please?
Is it better to get plasterboard or plaster over brick walls in bedroom?
