How much would it cost to plaster over an Artex (Stipple pattern) bedroom ceiling that is 3m by 5m? The ceiling has been tested and is Asbestos free (with certificate). Would it be cheaper if I were to smoothen off the Artex first?
I have just had my kitchen diner replastered and there are new cracks appearing in the plaster. This started on the ceilings and I have now noticed a hairline crack down one wall. Is this normal? Can I ask the trade back to fix or is it expected and how can I fix it?
I want to have K render installed on my house but keep hearing stories about it losing its colour within a couple of years. I'm looking for some advice from actual experts and installers rather than peoples opinions on the internet. Are the horror stories true? Do you think the cost of K render is worth it? Do you think it is worth spending the extra money or should I just go for the cheaper option? Would you reccomend K Rend? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Recently I have had renovations in my bathroom, which included the installation of a plasterboard wall which is right by the bath. Tiles were fitted to the plasterboard with an adhesive it seems to have been done very neatly and correctly but I am concerned if plasterboard is okay to use so close to the bath without waterproofing beyond the tiles themselves. The last thing I want is a structurally unsound wall of tiles right next to my bath. Is this usual to have tiles fitted to plasterboard walls like this or should I bring this up with the bathroom fitter who fitted the wall?
Do I need to remove old render before rerendering with krender
looking to get my house rewired, 3 bedroom with conservatory and porch. Will need a plasterer to come in after. What sort of price would I be looking at? Understand it depends on the wall and ceiling damage of the house but if I could get a ball park until i can bring someone in for quotes
with skirting and architrave removed, would you expect a plasterer to skim close to the floor on a full room plaster skim?
Hello, I am knocking down a stud wall between a store room and a bedroom to make it bigger. The bedroom ceiling is smooth and in good condition whereas my storeroom is artex. Basically I want to know when the wall is down would the entire ceiling of thr combined rooms have to be plastered, or could just the new quater be plastered? Thank you
I have a reoccurring crack on my ceiling from a repair done 2 years ago where plasterboard was replaced halfway across my lounge to a joist in a straight line. I have been advised that the plasterboard should have been staggered to different joists. Any advice on how much to take down the existing ceiling, stagger plasterboards and replaster? The room is 2.4m wide at this point and has coving. Any advice is welcomed.
We will be knocking down the conservatory shortly but there is plaster on the outside walls on top of the original brickwork. How can I get this layer off to reveal the original bricks again without damaging them? Will I need to get a professional in?
