My house has a loft space of approximately 45 square metres. I would like to have it fully converted into an attic bedroom. How much would this cost?
Do all loft conversions involve the use of RSJ beams or does it depend on the nature and type of the loft conversion?
Apart from adequate stairs and openable windows, what other fire safety features does a loft conversion need to meet building regs? Are there any extra features that aren't legally required but are good to have?
What type of loft conversion adds the most value to a property in your opinion?
I've bought a house with a loft conversion that's very basic and not classed as a bedroom. I'd like to upgrade it to make it an extra bedroom, improving the window, insulation and heating. The access stairs are fine, but I probably need doors and alarms fitting too from what I've read. What's the first step I need to take to sort this out? Does it need an inspection or survey done?
Hi. I'm considering paying for a Velux loft conversion. Just curious as to how long such a conversion usually takes?
Is Velux the best skylight manufacturer or are there better and more affordable options out there? We need one that's suitable for a loft conversion.
Is there a way of making a flat dormer loft conversion look nice? I'm worried it'll ruin the house's kerb appeal.
What are the most important things to include in a loft conversion to stop it being too hot or cold?
I've recently discovered that the loft partition made of plasterboard is not sitting at the central point of chimney breasts (we removed ours) it may have been moved a few years ago about 8-10 inches and sits nearly at the front opening of our chimney breasts in the loft. It's been cleverly done and plaster has been painted on joins from our side. Only the central part has moved, the corners are at the correct place. To complicate matters further the en-suite shower cubicle needs a new light and when the old one was removed you can see the partition wall across it and cable from my property (probably the electric shower) feeding into next door. What steps do I have to take before moving it? Can I just do it as it's technically on my property? Do I have to restore it to the centre? Is it the neighbours responsibility and cost? What rights do I have?? Does it matter how many years it's been like that Can I just employ someone to do it?
