I would like to add my new washing machine in the bathroom under the boiler. Would be on fused spur. Do I need to put a door in front to isolate or can be left like that visually in the bathroom? Help!!!
If I have red and black wires in my home electric circuits, does that mean the wiring is old?
What are the key 5 electrical safety rules to teach my kids?
I live in a part of the UK that is susceptible to flooding. In the event of floods, what steps should I take in terms of the electrics? Should I turn off the power? If it’s not something I should myself, is there any way to have emergency workers come out to help with the electricity during such a scenario? Is it best to just evacuate?
Is it possible to move a consumer unit? Ours is right by the door and I'd like to move it to a cupboard, so it's out of sight.
What are arc blasts and are they a danger in regular settings, such as in the house?
digipump AKW M11 pump not working in rental property how much would it cost to have it looked at, i do not have easy access because i rent the property out otherwise i would look at it myself, any advice to ask my tenant to assess it would be greatly appreciated
Will 4mm SWA 3 core be sufficient for my project? Plan is to run 10m non-armoured in a conduit on exterior wall from consumer unit, connect in a box to SWA and bury for a distance of 20m to shed. Bury area traffic is negligible. Little consumer box shed side. Max electric draw would be a kettle, tv, fridge, lights, maybe a small electric heater. I'm not connecting anything myself. Just need advice before I buy a 4mm SWA. Once I've done all I can electrician to connect and sign it off. NB does electrician need to see trench depth before I bury it?
What are the requirements for electrical safety in rental?
When we moved into our terraced house, there was a small play house and a shed in the backyard both of which were powered via a non-buried armoured cable that ran to a standard outdoor outlet at the back of the house. We had both removed, and had the wire disconnected as it was clearly not properly installed and wires at the box were exposed to the elements. We then had an insulated summer house built thinking powering it wouldn't be an issue (it's our first house, forgive our ignorance!) We've had an electrician in but he's said it requires us to have the cable running from the fusebox. Understandable. Problem is, that the fusebox is at the very front of our house, and while the first two thirds of the house is floorboards and somewhat accessible, according to our neighbours (we haven't ripped up the floors yet to check) the rear of our house is solid concrete. Do we have any options?
