    Garden room electrics

I currently have a garden shed with full power, with the garden circuit being a separate circuit on the main consumer unit. Power is provided to the shed via a buried 50mm armoured cable. I am planning on replacing the shed with a proper garden room. Is it possible to utilise the current electricity connection in the new garden room, effectively directly replacing the shed with the garden room? I would expect to have a secondary consumer unit in the garden room.

    Installing AFDDs in Domestic Property

I'm a homeowner with a 1954 property that was rewired in the 90s. I'm looking to upgrade the consumer unit and have been considering AFDDs on all circuits to help protect the older wiring. But I’ve noticed many electricians seem reluctant to install AFDDs in domestic properties. Aside from the cost, is there a reason for the hesitation? Are you concerned about false tripping, callbacks, or the complexity of diagnosing issues? Or is it just that AFDDs are still relatively unfamiliar tech for some in the trade? I’d really appreciate hearing from electricians who’ve installed them—especially in older homes. Are they worth the investment in your view?

    Planning permission for electric fence?

Do you need planning permission to have an electric fence constructed? Are there certain properties that can and others that can’t have one built? If so, could you explain to me how it works, what rules apply, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated on this.

    Electrical Distribution board Q

I’m in the process of getting three phase supply put in, SSE have advised I’ll need to have distribution/supply board setup for when they lay the cable. My question on is, what type of board to I need, they mentioned it would probably be on a concrete plinth and on a wooden back board. Looking for advise on all this please (I’m in the process of trying to find tradesmen to do all the excavation and electrical work)
