  • Moving exterior drainage hopper

Hello, We are going to be replacing the kitchen and would like to move the back door by replacing a large window with a door and window however there is a drainage hopper right outside where the new door will go and we will need to build steps down to the garden which will go over where the current hopper is. Is it possible to move the hopper to the left by 1m and roughly what costs would be involved? Alternatively is there any way we can build steps over it? Possibly some type of timber decking steps so they sit over the hopper and will allow the sink pipe to go in as well. Thank you

Minimum depth underground of domestic drain line

How far underground should the drain line from my house be? I've got a feeling it's too close to the surface. Is there a regulation depth?

    Painting gutters

Can the colour you paint a guttering help with its longevity? For example, some colours reflect the sun more and some absorb heat more, so could colours on a gutter that reflect more heat mean they’ll experience less heat damage and last longer? Or will these benefits be negligible?

    Outdoor Smell coming from drain

We have a square outdoor grid hopper with a kitchen sink draining into it. It smells in the summer and have had it inspected by a drain engineer with a camera. He has told us that there is nothing wrong with the drain however the smell venting back up is really bad. How can we solve this issue? Is it because it hasn't got a proper trap to stop the smell?
