Any advice on how to minimise creaking stairs? Removed the old stair carpet and secured with additional screws where the old nails had come loose/ weren’t nailed in correctly. Still some creaking and large gaps between the uprights and steps, is there any expanding glues etc out there I can try before it gets new carpet fitted. Unfortunately underneath of sites is not accessible. Thanks in advance 👍🏼
I need to replace the existing painted wooden vertical cladding to an old farm outbuilding. The boards are tongued and grooved. My father was a time served joiner - but, sadly, no longer with us. What basic things do I need to be mindful of ie. : 1 Thickness of boards. 2. Type of wood. 3 Space between boards to allow for expansion. 4 Preparation of boards before fixing - type of primer, paint etc. 5 Type of nails, screws etc for fixing. Many thanks for your advice. much appreciated

Hi all, I have a bedroom loft conversion which is entered with an open stairway (approx. same height as a standard door frame and was hoping to have louvred doors as the entrance to the bedroom. Would it be possible to hang to louvred doors in front of the staircase? I would like to have them hinged centrally to be bifold – as the landing space would be quite small. Would this require a full door frame for the louvred doors or is there any other options? For example, could I hand them off the side of the wall or attach to a wooden baton for the hinges? Thanks Han
