  • Risk of using a chimney after fifteen years?

I have an old chimney and it hasn’t been used in I’d say about fifteen years now. I suddenly thought that for this winter, I’d like to have a chimney fire again for warmth. Is there any reason I should be concerned in using a chimney after so long? Is there a risk that dangerous substances have built up and will fill the air if I used a chimney after so many years? It’s just been on my mind and there’s still a while to go until the cold winter months, so I figured it would be good to find out first!

Are there any rrade industry shortages? (as of June 2022)

I've noticed there are shortages in certain industries right now (as of June 2022). Just wondering, are there any construction industries or trades with shortages of professionals right now? Or are there some that suffer from shortages in the near future that homeowners should be aware of?

    white patches on brickwork

Do white patches on outside brickwork of house mean that water is getting in behind bricks and making walls damp? Could it be guttering is not aligned properly or not deep enough under roof tiles to take water into down ? The wall above bedroom window has shown water/condensation running down and black mould around window frame has recently been removed. Roof also been dripping water so could be leak or very bad condensation. Sound advice much appreciated on what to do next. Thank you.
