We want to expose a brick wall in our home for a rustic feel. Will it need sealing? And will it make the room less thermally efficient?
We're looking for a plot to build our home on. Aside from planning obstacles, what should we be looking out for in terms of suitability for building?
Is it essential to get homeowner insurance before having a new house constructed? If not, when would it be necessary and also when would it be strongly recommended (if it’s not legally required)?
Hello, we have a house built in the late 1960's and have no lintels above our upstairs uPVC windows. This was noted by a surveyor we had before we planned to fit new windows. A builder who came to see us wants to put the lintels in from the inside. Is this normal practice? Many thanks for any advice.
I’m having a loft conversion done and to comply with building control you have either replace all the internal doors to fire doors or have a smoke detector in each room. I’m thinking of going with the smoke detectors in each room. My question is what’s the difference between the hardwired detectors and the radio link ones and also which one can I tap the wire into the existing light fixture and run trunking to the smoke detector.
I am hoping to apply for planning permission soon for having a large extension added to my back garden. How long does it generally take to get planning permission approval? Is it a long process? Is it difficult to get approval or in most cases is permission given?

My question and quote is Can I get the chimney breast in the bedroom upstairs removed? And how much would it cost. Separately the one in the living room and the room above it master room , canthe upstairs be removed if the downstairs is going to be replaced for electric?

How much space should a double garage have at a bare minimum?
The upstairs rooms in our cottage have very low ceilings. I'm wondering whether it's possible to remove them and use the loft space as the extra height. Before I engage a local builder to advise me, is this something that can be done in general?
